Instead of flying, Nigeria’s Flying Eagles may merely walkover South Africa on Tuesday in their scheduled Match Day 2 fixture of the football event of the 12 African Games.
The South Africans arrived Rabat, Morocco with their Under 23 team instead of the Under 20 team, necessitating a technical walkover in their Friday match with hosts, Morocco.
It is unlikely that the South Africans will quickly assemble an Under 20 team within a short time and ferry them to Rabat for the games.
That being the case, the Flying Eagles may have the three points at stake and still remain within qualifying zone for the semi-finals.
But the larger picture will be the possible photo-finish of the Group A if Morocco and Burkina Faso play also 1-1 draw in the other scheduled fixture of the day.
With Burkina Faso also likely to be awarded three points on Match Day 3, all teams may have the same points and goal difference, leaving the Nigeria versus Morocco as possible decider of the group ranking.
