Let’s Put an end to Enyeama saga, says Onigbinde
BY BOLAJI OKUNOLA
Elder statesman of Nigerian coaching business, Adegboye Onigbinde has warned Gernot Rohr to pay less attention to scouts and journalists trying to convince him towards goal keeper, Vincent Enyeama’s return.
Enyeama who announced his sudden retirement in late 2015 after a faceoff with former Super Eagles’ coach, Sunday Oliseh, has been sitting on the fence on whether to return back to the team.
In a chat with www.sportvillage square.com, Onigbinde said that the issue should be put to rest.
“It’s high time we forgot Enyeama’s case and face the future.”
He is of the opinion that most Nigerians will be happy seeing Enyeama return, “but the question: is does he still have the passion?” Onigbinde asked.
“Young Enyeama made his debuted during my days as the national team coach and ever since then he has been great. But for him announcing his retirement in the first place shows he is fed up.
“I will advice Rohr to please snub anyone who tries to convince him about Enyeama’s return. I am not condemning anyone but I just felt it may affect the team because the usual faces Enyeama used to know are no longer playing under Rohr.
“The team policy is based on grooming young talents which I think is the best way forward other than re-inviting tired legs” Onigbinde warns.
