Will Super Eagles be lucky this time?

It is 40 years since Nigeria first lost a title match of the Africa Cup of Nations. Coincidentally, it was in the City of Abidjan as Nigeria lost 3-1 to Cameroon.

Although on a different turf in the same city, a win by Nigeria will atone for the loss in 1984.

It is 24 years that Nigeria lost an Africa Cup of Nations’ final match. That was a bitter loss via penalty shoot-out  to Cameroon on home soil.

Cote d’Ivoire too have tasted defeat in the cup final when they lost to Egypt in 2006 and Zambia in 2012.
