Rivers United on Thursday handed a 2-0 defeat to visiting Remo Stars in a rescheduled Match Day 1 fixture.

The match was rescheduled owing to Rivers United’s continental engagement.

The home side went ahead in the 14th minute when Alex Oyowah converted a penalty kick. The home side held on tenaciously to the slim lead until the 90th minute when former Remo Stars player, Andy Okpe  blasted from 25 yards to give Rivers United an emphatic 2-0 win.
