Group B table ahead of Thursday clash oof Australia and Nigeria

Following Canada’s 2-1 defeat of Ireland which also translates to the elimination of the European debutants, Group B of the Women’s World Cup has now become a three-horse race.

Australia will face Nigeria on Thursday. The co-hosts will qualify for the knock-out stage if they beat the Super Falcons in the clash at Brisbane Stadium.

Canada now only need a draw in their final game to reach the Round of 16. Nigeria will have to avoid defeat to have any arithmetical chance of progressing.

In the case of a drawn match, they will have to beat the already eliminated Republic of Ireland in their last group match next week and hope that a winner emerges in the corresponding Canada versus Australia clash.
