Okocha among stellar line-up of legends to illuminate CAF FIFA World Cup Draw

Nigerian football legend, Austin Okocha who was the trophy bearer at last Saturday’s U23 Africa Nations Cup final in Rabat Morocco is set for another role in Abidjan as the draw for African qualifying series for the 2026 World Cup holds this Wednesday in Abidjan.

Incidentally, it was in Abidjan that Okocha made his Super Eagles debut on 2 May 1993 when Nigeria faced Cote d’Ivoire in a World Cup qualifier.

Okocha is among a constellation of African football legends gracing the draw as well as well as the General Assembly of the Confederation of African football.

The roster includes African champions and iconic players from the rich history of the continent at the World Cup.

They include Senegal’s Elhadji Diouf,  Cote d’Ivoire’s Didier Drogba,  Togo’s Emmanuel Adebayor and Alexandre Song of Cameroon.

Also in attendance are Wael Gomaa of Egypt, Asamoah Gyan of Ghana,  Khalilou Fadiga (Senegal), Geremi Njitap (Cameroon), Houssine Kharja (Morocco), and Youri Djorkaeff (France).

Furthermore, the event will be graced by the presence of prominent Ivorian Legends like Didier Zokora, Siaka Tiene, Aruna Dindane, Cyril Domoraud, Alain Gouamene, Abdoulaye Traore, Emmanuel Eboue, Ahmed Ouattara, Bonaventure Kalou, and numerous others.
