Angola calls for political solution to Morocco Sahara issue

As moves to get a lasting solution to the lingering Sahara Issue continue, Angola has thrown its support for a political solution based on compromise.

In a joint statement issued, on Tuesday in Rabat, at the end of the third session of the Moroccan-Angolan Joint Cooperation Commission, Angola’s Minister of External Relations, Téte Antonio, stated that his country “encourages the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy, Staffan Mistura, to find a just, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution based on compromise”.

The meeting was co-chaired by two ministers of the countries –   Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita and Angola’s Téte Antonio.

The two ministers also reiterated their unwavering commitment to the principles of international law and legality, and to respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States, according to the joint statement.
