GTI boss, Abubakar Lawal hails ‘Festival of Football’, the NPL championship play-off

The man behind the mask, Abubakar Lawal who heads the Nigeria Premier League strategic partner, the GTI Asset Management and Trust (GTI) has expressed delight following the successful organization of the just concluded NPL Championship Play-offs at the  Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

Lawal, while speaking to a section of the media in Lagos also gave kudos to the sporting press for the massive publicity they gave to the tourney and thanked the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the NPFL led by Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye for doing a great job.

“I must thank the Nigerian sporting press for rising to the occasion by giving massive publicity to the just concluded NPFL Championship Play-offs and the great commitment made by the IMC to the event.

“Therefore, I want to use this golden opportunity to thank gentlemen of the press for doing a wonderful job by giving our league the required visibility and mileage globally.

“And for us at GTI, this is a new dawn for our beautiful game. I want to assure our fans and stakeholders that we shall improve in any area we may have been found wanting come next season,” he began.

The Group Managing Director of GTI further reiterated the assurance he gave newsmen during the commencement of the abridged league season that his company is all out to help the Nigeria football league body achieve a strong and transparent football ecosystem in the country using the Nigeria Football Fund (TNFF) as a vehicle to attaining this laudable dream.

He restated that the company was employing every best international practice to give Nigerian football a desirable breakthrough that will enable it compete with the best football leagues in the world.

“We at GTI will continue to commit lots of material and financial resources toward ensuring that NPFL enjoys robust financial support in order to become self-sustaining with necessary measures to ensure transparency in all its dealings with investors, sponsors and other partners. We are proud to associate with the IMC/NPL in the execution of this project and we hope Nigerian football will grow from strength to strength going forward,” he added.

Lawal however, congratulated Enyimba International FC of Aba for winning the 2022/2023 NPFL trophy alongside N100million prize money and describing them as worthy champions.
