It was not just an elimination that the Flying Eagles handed to the much fancied Argentina in the on-going FIFA U-20 World Cup,  Nigeria also ended a run of 10 straight U20 victories for Argentina.

The La Abliceleste won all their seven matches when they hosted the tournament in 2001. They built up on that  with the winning of their three group matches in the current edition.

The Flying Eagles have now terminated the winning streak in addition to avenging the 2-1 defeat at the 2005 edition in the Netherlands.

The La Abliceleste are now relegated to the spectators’ stands as the competition draws into concluding stages.
