Family visits longest living Nigerian ex international on 94th birthday

It was a quiet time, yet soul-lifting for Titus Okere, the sole survivor of the 18 foundation members of the Nigerian national football team.

According to Frances Okere, his grand daughter, she visited along with one of the two former footballer’s great grand sons, Maxwell Okere.

Okere, who played for Nigeria’s first national team in their goodwill tour of England in 1949 and also played in Nigeria’s first international match against Sierra Leone on 8 October 1949, clocked 94 on Wednesday.

He lost his wife,  Patricia three years ago. He has just one son, Titus, whom he named after himself.

Titus Okere jr, had two dauthers, Frances and Georgina Okere who is now Mrs. Coates.

 Also, there are two great grandchildren, Maxwell Okere, son of Frances and Sebastian Coates.

The grand daughter also informed that Titus Okere lost his wife, Patricia Okere three years ago. His son, who is Frances’ father also goes by the name Titus Okere.

He has two grand daughters, Frances and Georgina Okere who is now Mrs. Coates.

Also, there are two great grandchildren, Maxwell Okere, son of Frances and Sebastian Coates.
