Nigeria’s Flying Eagles may not have achieved their secondary objective of winning the Africa U-20 Nations Cup, they at least achieved the dream of picking a World Cup ticket and winning the Fair Play award.

They were awarded the prize after the final between Senegal and Gambia at the Cairo International Stadium on Saturday night.

According to Cafonline, the Nigerian side showed professionalism, dedication, passion and discipline during the 23rd edition of the tournament in Egypt.

Ladan Bosso’s charges won the third place play-off match against Tunisia on Friday in Cairo.

The WAFU-B champions beat the Young Carthage Eagles 4-0 to win bronze.

The Flying Eagles recovered from their semi-final defeat against The Gambia to hammer Tunisia in the Egyptian capital.

Nigeria will be one of four teams representing the continent at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia later this year.

Seven-time  U-20 Africa Cup of Nations champions Nigeria have won the 2023 U-20 AFCON Fair Play award.
