Sports Village Square lead writer and author of four books on Nigerian football, Kunle Solaja, has arrived Casablanca Tuesday morning  for a sports facilities advocacy tour.

The visit is at the invitation of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Nigeria, His Excellency Moha Ou Ali Tagma, also coincides with the FIFA Club World Cup holding in northern city of Tangiers and the capital city of Rabat.

Solaja is already accredited for the Club World Cup. The Moroccan ambassador has  sent him a message of gratitude  for accepting the invitation.

The message reads: “Good afternoon Sir. I thank you for accepting our invitation. Hope you will envoy your trip and your stay.”

It will be recalled that Solaja was, at the last World Cup in Qatar, honoured for his long time commitment to the global soccer fiesta which he has covered for an African record of nine times. With the FIFA Club World Cup, he is opening a new chapter in his coverage of international football tournaments.

Morocco made the best ever African performance at the World Cup in Qatar where the North African country got to the semi finals.

The country is one of the six jostling to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations which was withdrawn from Guinea.

Morocco has been a sporting destination in Africa and is hoping to add the 2025 Afcon to the list of hosted events.

Kunle Solaja is the author of landmark books on sports and journalism as well as being a multiple award-winning journalist and editor of long standing. He is easily Nigeria’s foremost soccer diarist and Africa's most capped FIFA World Cup journalist, having attended all FIFA World Cup finals from Italia ’90 to Qatar 2022. He was honoured at the Qatar 2022 World Cup by FIFA and AIPS.
