Oh African’t!  End of the road for  gallant Morocco

Morocco’s heroic run at the Qatar 2022 World Cup finally came to an end after a 2-0 loss to favourites, France in the semi-finals.

They put on such a spirited fight that the victorious French players went to the Moroccans to commend their fighting spirits at the end of the encounter.

The Moroccans had gone five matches without conceding any goal in open play as the only time they had to pick the ball from their own net was when had an own goal in a group game with Canada.

But on Wednesday night, within the opening five minutes, the French broke the Moroccan resiistance.

The final nail on the coffin was hammered in in the dying moments of the second half.

And so, with goals from Theo Hernandez and substitute Randal Kolo Muani, the French are into a fourth World Cup final and could become the first team to win the trophy back-to-back in 60 years.

That was a feat acchieved by Brazil in 1962 after having won in 1958.

The talent-laden French deserved their success .Now, two PSG attacking stars – Lionel Messi and Kyalian Mbappe will clash in Sunday’s final.
