America congratulates Morocco over World Cup feat

Morocco’s King Mohammed VI has received congratulatory phone calls from several heads of states, including French President Emmanuel Macron, the Emir of Qatar, and the UAE’s President. Also reported is that of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken who congratulated Morocco for making history and qualifying for the 2022 World Cup Semi finals.
The US diplomat commended Morocco for enabling Africa to “lead on and off the football field.”
“On the eve of the #USAfricaLeadersSummit22, I congratulate @EnMaroc, the #AtlasLions, on their win today and becoming the first African and Arab team to ever reach the semi-finals of the @FIFAWorldCup. #DimaMaghrib [Morocco forever],” Blinken wrote.
Morocco’s Atlas Lions made history after defeating Portugal 1-0 to qualify for the semi-finals.
Morocco became the first African and Arab country to qualify for the semi-finals in World Cup history.
In addition to the US, several other countries congratulated Morocco, its people, and King Mohammed VI for the win.
King Mohammed VI received phone calls from President of Gabon Ali Bongo Ondimba, President of France Emmanuel Macron, Emir of Qatar Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, and King of Jordan Abdullah II, who all congratulated the monarch for tonight’s historic achievement.
The monarch also received calls from the President of Mauritania, Mohammed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, and the President of the UAE, Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
