It almost slipped off, but Ghana Black Stars had a narrow escape as they brushed aside a spirited come-back by Korea Republic.

They initially wasted a first half two-goal advantage and were just in time to score the winner.

In the first half, Mohammed Kudus netted twice in a dramatic and fluctuating World Cup Group H game  but the Ghanaians allowed South Korea back into the match as Cho Gue-sung netted twice in three minutes to level at 2-2.

But never say die! Ghana fought back to score the third goal and recorded the reversed scoreline they had in their opening match with Portugal. True to tradition, Korea have never won their second match in any edition of the World Cup.

Their defeat by Ghana has prolonged to 11, their series of no-win on match day 2  of the World Cup.

Ahead of Portugal facing Switzerland, Ghana are on level terms with three points.
