History has repeated itself as Nigeria again secured a  2-0 win in a competitive international match.

The U-23 team guning for the Olympics beat Tanzania 2-0 just as Nigeria in the only other international encounter in 1989 beat Cameroon 2-0 in a World Cup qualifier.

In the aftermath of the 2-0 win, Nigeria advanced 3-1 on aggregate after an earlier 1-1 draw last week in Dar es Salaam.

Victory however did not come easy. It was goalless at half time.

The Tanzanians even took the initiative in the second half and wer on the offensive.

But all that changed when in the 59th minute, Ogunniyi Omojesu put Nigeria ahead from a well taken free kick.

Makanjuola Success added the second for Nigeria from the penalty spot in the 69th minute to put the game beyond the reach of the Tanzanians.
