Curtain falls on maiden Bet9ja South East Badminton Championship

After three days of intense actions, the Bet9ja South East Badminton Championship will have the final matches today at the indoor sports hall of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

Over 60 players who hitherto have not had opportunity of converging for competition featured in what has turned to be their dress rehearsals for the National Sports Festival holding later this year in Delta.

“That’s one of the objectives”, says Obiageli Edoga Solaja, the convener of the championship. She thanked Bet9ja,  the preferred sports betting firm in the South East, for their giving back to the society.

Solaja, the convener of the South East Badminton Outreach and the zonal representative in the board of Badminton Federation of Nigeria thanked the federation’s president, Francis Orbih for his support alongside that of Dr. Emeka  Ofora, a lawyer and Super Agent of Bet9ja in Enugu.

As the championship gets to the finals, it is an all Anambra final match in the men’s singles as Emeka Anthony will face Jovita Aniekwe.

Emeka Anthony beat Ifejika Godswill while Jovita beats Igwe Nwachukwu of Enugu to be in contention for the cash prize as well as gold medal and trophy.

For the Ladies’ final, Sunday Queen of Imo State will face Esther Chidoke of Enugu State.

In the Women’s Doubles final match, Sunday Queen and Chisom Olugbue of Imo State will face the Enugu State duo of  Esther Chidoke and Enelu Obianuju.

In the final of the mixed doubles, the Anambra State duo of Jovita Aniekwe and Bridget Ada will face Ifejika Godswill and Esther Chidoke of Enugu State.
