Kano Pillars…jogging into the lower division of the Nigerian league

The life line that former four-time Nigeria league champions Kano Pillars were holding on to for survival has cut off  and thus the crowd pulling team are now relegated, even ahead of this Sunday’s final matches of the NPFL.

They were expecting a reprieve from the NFF Appeals Committee to escape relegation. All the grounds of appeal were dismissed and the club can only go to the Court of Arbitration for Sports in Switzerland to further their case.

Even the League Management Company was not spared for its role in the entire saga in which points are now deducted from Kano Pillars for the violent conduct of both their fans and officials.

The Appeals Committee has this to say regarding the LMC:

“On the League Management Company’s letter dated 14th July 2022, addressed to the General Secretary, Nigeria Football Federation, having found that the letter is contemptuous, League Management Company is hereby barred from sending such letter to the Nigeria Football Federation.

“League Management Company has been cautioned several times, as the letter was trying to sway the decision of the NFF Appeals Committee.”
