Super Eagles set to worsen São Tomé and Príncipe 2023 AFCON woes

Sao Tome and Principe host the Super Eagles in Morocco this afternoon.

With wounded pride, São Tomé and Príncipe, battered 5-1 by Guinea Bissau will attempt to write a new chapter as they face the Group A favourites, Super Eagles of Nigeria, this Monday afternoon.

It is one of the two match day 2 fixtures, the other one being Sierra Leone hosting Guinea Bissau. Conicidentally, both matches are on neutral grounds following the poor facilities in the Sierra Leone and São Tomé and Príncipe.

While Sierra Leone host Guinea Bissau in Conakry Guinea, São Tomé and Príncipe opted for Agadir, Morocco, the country that has provided grounds for most other countries who are unable to host football matches.

Nigeria will hope to win against São Tomé and Príncipe while hoping that Guinea Bissau will drop points against Sierra Leone. Such a scenario will see Nigeria taking the leadership of the group.

São Tomé and Príncipe vs Nigeria, in the first ever match between the two, will be played at 2 pm Nigerian time.
