The ruling by the FIFA players’ status chamber that the Nigeria Football Federation should pay its sacked coach, Gernot Rohr the sum of $377,879.46 (N156.7 million) is more of a victory for the Nigeria Football Federation, a top official of the football governing body has explained.

Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, the General Secretary has informed the Sports Village Square that Rohr did not get what he expected from FIFA.

“Gernot Rohr did not win. He requested for over $1m USD and also re-reimbursement of his Legal fees. But got only $377, 879.

“If he had won he would have also gotten what he requested for including the re-reimbursement of his Legal fee as the normal legal practice”

The NFF 2nd Vice President, Shehu Dikko, also threw more light on the issue. According to him, the FIFA ruling was a victory to the NFF.

“To be honest Gernot Rohr didn’t win any case per say as all his claims were thrown out by FIFA and this $378k is exactly what the NFF had already agreed to pay him even before he took the matter to FIFA as part of his termination process”

The football governing body however has up to June12 to pay-off Gernot Rohr who is in line for a new job in Mali.
