Two-time Africa Cup of Nations winner with Cameroon and currently the president of the Cameroon Football Federation, Samuel Eto’o Fils has congratulated the Super Eagles for their outstanding performance so far in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

The Nigerian side has been one of the outstanding teams so far and despite the pre tournament issues of not getting their preferred top strikers, they have been in good scoring mood and have emerged the group leaders of Group D.

Even if they lose their last group match, only Egypt can tie with them on points. But as per Article 74 of the competition’s regulations, the head-to-head advantage of having beaten Egypt will count.

It reads: “…if two (or more teams are) tied on points, the following tie-breaking criteria are applied in the order given to determine the rankings. 1. Points in head-to-head matches among the team.”

Samuel Eto’o sent his congratulatory message to the team via his verified  twitter handle. The African football legend tweeted: “Well done Super Eagles for securing your second victory and moving on to the knockout stage.”
