Late drama as Ghana lose hold of Gabon game… and also post match red card

Ghana will be ruing the ‘evil’ forces that are after them in their closing moments of matches in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

Just as they conceded a late goal in their first match against Morocco, so also they did on Friday night as Gabon scrapped a a point after a late equaliser that got the match ending 1-1.

Ngowet Allevinah scored the late goal that has put Gabon at the brink of qualifying for the knock out stage.

Not only was the goal a back-breaking one for Ghana, a fracas that ensued after the final whistle got yellow card for Ghana’s Joseph Paintsil and moments later, a red card for Benjamin Tetteh.

Before then, Ghana appeared to be cruising to 1-0 win courtesy of an 18th minute goal by Andre Ayew.

They had the game well under control deep into the second half before Gabon tortuously got the equaliser.

Ghana will now have to beat Comoros and hope Gabon will not get a point in their last group match with leaders and already qualified Morocco.

Gabon on the other hand are almost assured of qualification even if they placed third as four points may be enough for them to emerge as one of the four best placed third positioned teams from the six groups.
