Egypt consider bidding for 2036 Olympics

Egypt could be the first African and Arab country to host the Olympic Games if the country achieve success in their proposed bid for the 2036 Olympics.

According to Egyptian online publication, kingfut, the minister of youth and sports, Ashraf Sobhi has declared that the country was preparing an official application to host the Games. .

With 2024, 2028, and 2032 editions’ hosts already awarded to Paris, Los Angeles, and Brisbane respectively, the closest edition Egypt can run for is 2036.

According to Ashraf Sobhi, an official application is being prepared right now in order for Egypt to make an attempt to host the 2036 edition.

“We are currently preparing an official application to send to the International Olympic Committee,” Sobhi said.

“At the moment, we are making sure that all aspects are covered, to keep our chances high.” Cape Town in South Africa unsuccessfully bided for the 2004 Olympics which were awarded to Athens.
