Algeria have sensationally extended their unbeaten run to 39 matches after a dramatic extra time 2-0 defeat of Tunisia in the final match of the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup  at the Al Bayi Stadium in Qatar.

It is however the country’s first ever win of the Arab Cup, beating the inaugural winners of 1963, Tunisia.

Scorelines were 0-0 at full time before a dramatic ending in the extra time.

With Tunisia pressing hard in the opening 10 minutes of the extra time, it was Algeria that succeeded in breaking the deadlock in the 99th minute through Amir Sayoud before Yacine Brahimi scored the final goal in the dying seconds of the extra time.

In the tension-soaked game, there were eight yellow cards, yet no single expulsion.

With the win and extension of Algeria’s unbeaten streak, the North Africans with 39 matches have now overtaken Italy which had 37.
