Nigeria and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen has been ruled out of action for three months.
That is the outcome of the medical report following an operation on his cheekbone and eye socket by Gianpaolo Tartaro on Tuesday morning.
The surgeon was assisted by Dr Mario Santagata with Dr Raffaele Canonico also present.
The report on the operation was carried by Napoli’s website.
According to the report, titanium plates and screws were used in the operation. The player is doing well and will remain under observation for the next few days.
With his being ruled out of action for three months, he will not be available for the Africa Cup of Nations which is starting 47 days time.
Nigeria have a titanic fixture with Egypt in the opening match. After the Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria will feature in a straight knockout encounter with a yet to be identified opponent among the quintet of Egypt, Cameroon, Ghana, Mali and DR Congo.
The three-month medical break on the player will just be lapsing then and he may not have regained match fitness.
