As the clock ticks down to the 4pm Thursday’s  World Cup qualifying match of Nigeria and the Central African Republic (CAR) at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, the  Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), is still awaiting the Confederation of African Football (CAF), on the stipulated number of fans that will attend the match.

According to Nigerian daily newspaper, ThisDay, a top official of the NFF remarked that due to the existing protocol regarding the Covid-19 pandemic,  “the capacity of the stadium no longer decide the level of attendance.

“The continental ruling body always sends to the host federation the capacity at every home match.

“We are still awaiting CAF’s decision but it is almost certain that the match tickets may not be available to the public because it is almost certain that the crowd attendance will be like the previous matches played at the same venue.”

The Super Eagles have played three home matches since Covid-19 era. Two against Sierra Leone in Benin City and Lesotho in the AFCON qualifying round in Lagos and the third one last month when Super Eagles defeated  Liberia in the opening match of the World Cup qualifying matches.

In the last two matches in Lagos,  10,000 and 5,000 fans respectively were allowed .
