Nigeria’s Super Eagles have made the cut among the six teams to be seeded among the contesting 24 ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations’ final draw holding on Tuesday.

The draw will be held at le Palais des Congrés in Yaoundé and it will see the 24 squads divided into six groups of four teams.

Based on the draw procedures, the Cameroon as host country and Algeria as defending champions were the top seeds.

The other four got their slots in Pot 1 based on the ranking of the top four teams derived from the current FIFA ranking released last Thursday.

Although Nigeria did not make the top four since placing fifth in the continental ranking, the Super Eagles enjoy the benefit of Algeria that placed third but have automatic seeding as cup holders.

The full list of those in Pot 1 are Cameroon, Algeria, Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco and Nigeria.

The remaining 18 teams will be allocated to the three remaining pots (Pots 2, 3 and 4) according to their ranking in descending order.

The four pots representing the teams will be labelled pots 1 to 4. The six pots representing the groups will be labelled groups A to F.

A ball from a team pot will be drawn, followed by a ball from one of the group pots, thus determining the position in which the respective team will play.

Cameroon as hosts are already pre-assigned to position A1. The remaining five teams in pot 1 will automatically be drawn into position 1 of each group (B to F). The same procedure will be repeated for the remaining pots.
