Man Utd make improved offer for Jadon Sancho

Manchester United have reportedly lodged an improved transfer bid to Borussia Dortmund for winger Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils have long-standing interest in the England international after failing in their pursuit of the former Manchester City  youngster last summer.

Talks broke down as the two sides couldn’t agree a fee – and it seems they are once again in the same stalemate.

United are said to have initially offered £67m plus around £8m in add-ons, but Dortmund value Sancho at around £80m.

But that offer has now been increased, with a bid in excess of £75million lodged for the flier, according to the Daily Mail.

Sancho is currently away with England on international duty at Euro 2020. He was involved in the warm-up match against Romania but has since been unused by Gareth Southgate in their 1-0 win over Croatia and 0-0 draw against Scotland.

Despite the big occasion, Sancho has been asked about his future and if the talk is a distraction at the tournament.

He told talkSPORT: “No, I’m cool about it. You know, there’s always going to be speculation, especially when you do well.

“It’s just how you handle that on the pitch and just keep doing what you’re doing.

“If you keep on doing that then I’m sure that won’t be a problem because the main thing is my football and that’s what I’m focused on at the moment.”

And he added some of his England teammates, particularly those who play for United, had asked him about the move.

“Of course all the boys have a lot of questions, you know,” he added.

“I feel like that’s with a lot of players because we’re all such great young talents and, you know, when you do well – again, like I said – speculation is always going to come around.

“Again, I just tell the boys, ‘look, I’m just focused on football at the moment’ and we just focus on the Euros, step by step.”

Sancho will be hoping to get some game time in England’s last group match against the Czech Republic on Tuesday where the team need all three points to top the group.

Boss Gareth Southgate has defended England’s cautious approach to their goalless draw against Scotland.

He said: “It feels difficult in the last 15 minutes of a game like tonight where fans are desperate for you to go forward and abandon shape.
