African champions, Algeria extend unbeaten record

Defending African champions Algeria extended their unbeaten run to 25 matches, after defeating Mali 1-0 in a friendly match on Sunday evening.

The Algerians last defeat date back to October 2018, recording 19 wins and 7 draws since then.

Djamel Belmadi’s team will face Tunisia in their next friendly later this week.

Captain Riyad Mahrez scored the game’s lone goal as Algeria defeated Mali on Sunday. Both sides are preparing for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, Qatar 2022 qualifiers, set to start next September.

Algeria is in Group A besides Burkina Faso, Niger and Djibouti, while Mali plays in Group E with Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda.
