Manchester United have announced their withdrawal from the controversial European Super League.
The announcement came late Tuesday, night via the club’s verified twitter handle. “We will not be participating in the European Super League”, the terse statement reads.
A further statement from the club’s website reads: “Manchester United will not be participating in the European Super League.
“We have listened carefully to the reaction from our fans, the UK government and other key stakeholders.
”We remain committed to working with others across the football community to come up with sustainable solutions to the long-term challenges facing the game.”
With the earlier withdrawal of Manchester City and Chelsea, the breakaway league appears to have crumbled.
