The new date for the National Sports Festival (NSF) in Benin City has forced the organisers of the 2nd MASVI Invitational Cycling Race earlier scheduled for April 2-5 to fix a new date of March 26-28, 2021 for the Race.
According to the chairman of the organising committee, Frank Ilaboya, arrival of participants for the race will now be March 26, as the race will hold on Saturday, March 27 and departure will now be March 28, 2021.
Ilaboya said the shift in date was as a result of the new date announced recently for the three times postponed National Sports Festival rescheduled to hold from April 2-14, 2021.
He added that the festival rules stipulate that no competition should hold during the sports festival. “Sequel to that, we (organisers) had to shift the date backward to enable us achieve our aim of using the one day race to prepare the South South states for the National Sports Festival” he stressed.
Meanwhile, three states Delta, Cross River and Edo have sent in their entries for the first competition in cycling this year.
