MESSI FACES BAN OVER RED CARD

Barcelona captain is facing a possible extended ban after being expelled for the first time in his club career on Sunday. He has played over 750 matches for Barcelona without being given a Red card.

But it was not so on Sunday as he was expelled minutes before the final whistle of the Spanish Super Cup in which his club lost Athletic Bilbao

Sports Village Square gathered from numerous sources that the ban will be carried over into La Liga.

But the disciplinary committee of the Spanish FA (RFEF) will have the final say on the length of the suspension Messi will serve.

The red card incident took place in the dying minute when Messi lost his cool while passing the ball as Asier Villalibre came in his path. It was a right hook in the back of the head that knocked down the Bilbao forward.

Initially, the referee missed it, but after a VAR review, he showed Messi a red card for Barca skipper’s conduct.
