As it was in the beginning, so it will be in the end! That is the setting for the WAFU – B U17 final match that will hold on Monday at Stade de Kégué in Lome.
After Nigeria’s 1-0 defeat of Burkina Faso earlier on Friday, Cote d’Ivoire followed up with a similar goal margin defeat of Niger Republic to set up a final clash with Nigeria.
Both teams met in the opening Group B match on 6 January. Cote d’Ivoire won the encounter 1-0 following a Emmanuel Papte’s goal in the 77th minute.
Coincidentally, it was another Emmanuel in the Nigerian team, Emmanuel Michael Papo whose goal also in the 77th minute set up a rematch of both teams.
Ahead of the final match, both teams join hosts, Morocco, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa and Zambia among teams that have qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations U17 tournament holding in March.
