Two months after he was sacked at FC Barcelona, Coach Quique Setien has admitted his difficulty in managing a star like Lionel Messi. Who am I to change him?’ the coach was quoted by El Pais as asking. “If they have accepted him as he is for years and have not changed him”, the coach further remarked, saying he could not change the star player.
He described Messi as the best player of all time thanks to the consistency he’s shown.
The coach remarked that Messi is reserved and doesn’t talk much but manages to ‘make you see things the way he wants’. Under Quique Setien, the Argentine recorded 15 goals and 18 assists in 24 matches.
“There are millions of people who think that Messi, or any other player, is more important than the club and the coach. This player, like others around him, have lived for 14 years winning titles, winning everything.
“I have had enough experiences to make an accurate assessment of what this boy and the others are really like.
“Messi is the best of all time. There have been other great players who have been great but the consistency that this boy has had throughout the years, nobody has had that.”
