Government of Catalonia in Spain has rejected FC Barcelona’s board pleas asking for delay of the referendum that could terminate the board’s life.

If the current board leaves, the next elections will take place in the next 40 to 90 days. The club initially denied sending such a letter only for it to be leaked by SER.

In the letter, Barcelona board also criticise the Catalan government for allowing the referendum amid the pandemic. Now, the board can only approve November 1 and 2 as the voting dates or resign.

Later this evening at 7pm, the board is expected to hold a press conference to announce the decision taken at the Monday’s board meeting.
