AM NOT TO BLAME FOR SUAREZ’S EXIT, KOEMAN REVEALS BARCA BOARD TREACHERY

Barcelona new coach, Roland Koeman who made a minute phone call to Luis Suarez to tell the player that his services were no longer required, has opened up that he was not responsible for the player’s ouster.

“I am not a bad guy in this movie. It was the board’s decision”, Tribuna quoted the coach as saying.

“It seemed that I have been the bad guy in this movie and it’s not like that. It was the decision of the club.”

“In the call, I have shown respect for him, but told him that it can be difficult to play, but if you stay, he will be one of the squad.

“Before I signed the contract, the club was thinking about things and I have tried to support those things.

” They’re not just decisions of the coach. I respect Luis and we have spoken clearly about his future.

“He had the opportunity to go to Atletico and I wish him luck.”

Suarez reportedly ready to accept a substitute role under the new boss. The club’s board, however, apparently decided to offload the Uruguayan due to the financial complications caused by the COVID-19 crisis.
