BIG HURDLE FOR SUAREZ’S JUVENTUS’ DREAM
Barcelona outcast, Luis Suarez may have passed the Italian citizenship examination which is a major step towards joining Serie A side as an ‘indigene’ having dual citizenship, there is however a major obstacle for him to perfect his dream.
The Italian passport which will enable him to be registered as EU citizen is unlikely to be out before 6 October which will enable him to be registered for the Champions’ League group stage.
The fears were further expressed by Juventus coach, Andrea Pirlo who reportedly remarked that “It takes a long time to obtain an Italian passport, so it’s unlikely Suarez can be Juve’s centre-forward.”
Pirlo was answering questions put to him by Football Italia.
Earlier this week, RAC1’s Gerard Romero claimed that Luis won’t join Juve as he can’t obtain dual citizenship until October 6, meaning that he can’t be registered for the Champions League group stage with the Serie A champions. Pirlo appears to have confirmed that scenario.
