Days after the death of a former player and staff of Shooting Stars, Ajibade Babalade was announced, Stationery Stores have also announced the death of their former General Secretary, Bernard Adeniyi Kpade. He was aged 82.
According to a statement issued by Hon. Justice Adeniyi Adebajo on behalf of the club, Kpade who is a Nigerian of Togolese parentage died on 30 July. He was born in Lagos Island where spent his youthful life.
Justice Adebajo whose family owns the once glamorous Stationery Stores further revealed that Kpade had his working years at John Holt family of companies and was mainly at the J. Allens Limited which was the defunct subsidiary of John Holt.
The firm J. Allen and Company Limited donated the first trophy for annual bilateral international competition contested by Nigeria and Gold Coast (now Ghana).
As a tribute to Kpade who is survived by his wife, Morenikeji as well as children and grand children, Hon Justice Adebajo remarked that the Stationery Stores benefitted immensely from the freely given efforts of Kpade in coordinating the various aspects of the club as its secretary.
Kpade has since been buried.
