When the earlier postponed African Nations Championships (CHAN) holds in Cameroon in January, a fourth substitution will be allowed for the first time in the continent.

Following the global outbreak of the coronavirus earlier in the year, FIFA Okayed five substitutions per match and that wasimplemented in Europe as the continent struggled to end the prolonged season.

There has been no official CAF match since. But rising from its executive committee meeting this Thursday, the continental body, among other decisions, announced that a fourth substitution would be permitted at the knockout stage of CHAN in matches that extended to extra time.

CHAN was initially scheduled to hold last April from 4 to 25 but had to be postponedtill next year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is now scheduled to take place on 16 January to 7 February 2021. The next edition originally slated for 2022 in Algeria is rescheduled to January 2023. The exact dates are to be discussed with the Algerian Football Federation.
