DEPARTING CROATIAN, RAKITIC WAVES EMOTIONAL GOODBYE TO BARCELONA

Ivan Rakitic, one of the heroes of Croatia’s 2-0 defeat of Nigeria at the Russia 2018 World Cup has made an emotional farewell to FC Barcelona as the clean up in the embattled club continues.

According to Spanish publication, Tribuna, the Croatian hailed the ‘amazing city’ of Barcelona and the ‘marvellous years’ he spent at the Catalan club.

He singled out the Champions League win in 2015 as the best moment of his career at the club.

“I’ve felt at home here for six years, me and my family have always felt spectacular, the whole city was amazing,” Ivan Rakitic confessed during his farewell press conference earlier today. He added: “If I score against Barcelona I won’t celebrate.”

When asked to pick the best moment of his Blaugrana career, the Croatian singles out the Champions League triumph in his debut season at the club.

Rakitic concludes: “I’m very grateful for everything.

Today, I’m thinking about all these marvellous years I’ve spent with Barca.”

The 32-year-old returns to Sevilla in the €1.5million move. He won 13 trophies in six years as a Blaugrana.
