PREMIER LEAGUE PLAYERS WARNED ON HOLIDAY PHOTO POSTS

Premier league players have been warned to dodge social media while holidaying abroad to avoid quarantine questions on their return, reports Daily Mail.

Some top-flight clubs are due to begin training for the new campaign next week, with a collection of stars still away during their downtime between seasons.

According to Daily Mail, players have been told by representatives not to post on platforms such as Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat while out of the country.

That move is thought to have been driven by a desire to not alert the general public of their whereabouts and subsequent questions surrounding quarantine rules.

Ibiza and Marbella are regular haunts for players. Tourists are instructed to isolate for 14 days on their return, with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office advising against non-essential trips.

Exemptions for elite sport do not apply to players not involved in European competition ahead of the Premier League’s resumption on September 12.

League chiefs have alerted clubs to Government guidance and expect players to be in acceptable shape to kick-off the 2020-21 season.

Sportsmail revealed on Wednesday that Southampton’s new signing, Mohammed Salisu, is spending a fortnight in a south coast hotel before completing his £10.9million switch from Real Valladolid. Saints begin pre-season training on Monday and Salisu’s isolation is thought to end before then.

The case of Boli Bolingoli in Scotland has brought a sharp focus on the need to follow Government guidelines.

The left back did not isolate after spending a day in Malaga with his partner without notifying Celtic before briefly featuring during Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock.

Bolingoli’s future at Celtic Park is in serious doubt after the SPFL postponed the club’s next two matches.
