MANCHESTER UNITED ADVERTISE JOB VACANCY FOR ANALYST
Premier League’s second runners-up, Manchester United have put up an advertisement as they look for an analysts who will help in identifying ‘players for the first team…specifically goalkeepers’.
Goalkeeping was the team’s undoing in the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea some days ago.
Manchester United, going into the UEFA Champions League next season, listed requirement for a job vacancy in their scouting department with the role advertised on their official website.
United are looking to hire a First Team Recruitment Analyst reporting to their Technical Chief Scout.
And in the very first line describing the role, it says the candidate will be specifically analysing goalkeepers.
The advert makes clear the job is to identify players with the potential to play for United, so perhaps De Gea doesn’t need to be too concerned right away.
The Spaniard has come under pressure following a series of high-profile mistakes in matches this season.
The latest of which came in the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea a couple of weeks ago when he allowed a Olivier Giroud shot to squirm past him and into the net.
That followed errors in Premier League games against Watford, Everton and Tottenham earlier on in the campaign.
It has raised the possibility that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could replace De Gea with Dean Henderson, who has excelled during two seasons out on loan at Sheffield United.
Solskjaer has repeatedly backed De Gea in public, stating just a few weeks ago that he was ‘the best goalkeeper in the world.’
But Solskjaer plans to talk to Henderson as he returned from his time at Bramall Lane with the 23-year-old keeper only willing to stay next season if he replaces De Gea as United’s No 1.
Henderson has no intention of serving understudy to De Gea and feels he needs to be playing regularly to try and break into the England squad.
Other duties of the Recruitment Analyst include collating data and other information on players for United’s global scouting network.
The applicant needs a Masters level qualification in sports science, previous experience of working within a football club, familiarity with online scouting systems and a full driving licence.
