The Egyptian Football Association announced on Wednesday that Egyptian match official Mohamed El-Sabahy has been entrusted for the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) job for the first time in the Egyptian Premier League.
According to Egyptian publication, kingfut, this will be in the in the ENPPI-Tala’a El-Gaish.
The EFA had announced that the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) Technology will be put in place starting from the second round and that a plan has been made before the season even started.
Referees spent around 40 days being trained on how to the new methods of VAR and had a timeline set for the start of the official usage of the technology around the beginning of March.
EFA disclosed that the first VAR will be appointed in the league game between ENPPI and Tala’a El-Gaish in the Egyptian Premier League’s 19th round on Thursday
he referee responsible for VAR will be Mohamed El-Sabahy, with Mostafa Medhat as the VAR assistant.
