MAN UTD TARGET DONNY VAN DE BEEK TO REPLACE POGBA

Manchester United are considering a January move for Ajax star Donny van de Beek as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to solve his midfield conundrum.

United are in the market for a midfield general this month after suffering injury setbacks with Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay out of first-team action.

And, according to ESPN, attention has now turned to securing the services of 22-year-old midfielder Van de Beek, who has been on the radar of some of Europe’s top clubs following his sensational performances in last season’s Champions League.

The report suggests that Solskjaer is determined to land a midfielder this window and has urged club chief Ed Woodward to secure the necessary reinforcements for his side this month.

United were beaten comprehensively by arch-rivals Manchester City in the Carabao Cup first leg on Tuesday night, with the flattering 3-1 scoreline not a true reflection on how poor Solskjaer’s side played.

And after the game, the Norwegian insisted that the club will only make the moves that suits United, as the club look to avoid falling into the trap of recruitment mistakes made in past seasons.
