Nigeria’s Enyimba had their victory in Group D of the second tier CAF Confederation Cup, defeating Côte d’Ivoire’s San Pedro 1-0 in Aba on Sunday afternoon to raise their tally to three points in the group.

Substitute Maryins Usule scored what proved to be the game’s lone goal after 64 minutes as Enyimba cruised to a vital victory to bring their campaign back to the right track.

San Pedro thought they took an early lead after eight minutes, but Kofi Gueye effort was ruled out for offside.

Cheick Soumaro had another chance for the visitors at the 20th minute but his shot from close range went just wide as the exciting first half ended goalless.

Substitute Maryins Usule broke the deadlock for hosts Enyimba four minutes after the hour mark. His low shot wronged goalkeeper Ira Elizier to give the Nigerians the lead.

Usule came near to double his tally three minutes later from Adebayo cross but his ball went wide.
