SADIO MANE DESERVES BETTER THAN 4TH POSITION AT BALLON D’OR, SAYS MESSI

Spanish publication, Tribuna, has reported that Lionel Messi appears to be a huge fan of Liverpool and Senegal’s Sadio Mane.

The Barca icon voted for the Liverpool star as the Best Player of the Year for FIFA awards earlier this season and now regrets that the Senegalese ended up finishing fourth the 2019 Ballon d’Or rankings.

“It’s a shame to see Mane finish in fourth place,” Messi told Canal+ as quoted by Goal.

“But I think there have been a lot of great players this year. That’s why it was difficult to choose a particular player. But I chose Sadio Mane because he’s a player that I like.

“Mane achieved a great year that was exceptional for the entire Liverpool team. That’s why I chose him. I repeat, there were a lot of very great players this year, so the choice was difficult.”

Leo won his sixth Ballon d’Or on Monday. He beat Virgil van Dijk and Cristiano Ronaldo, who finished second and third respectively, to the award.
