NIGERIA’S SPORTS MINISTRY SANCTIONS ATHLETICS BOSS REMOVAL

The suspension of the President of Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Ibrahim Shehu Gusau may have been sanctioned by the nation’s Ministry of Sports.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sports, Adesola Olusade has received in audience, the acting president of the athletics body, Olamide George.

Some members of the athletics board met earlier in the week and suspended the president, Gusau and announced his lieutenant , Olamide George as acting president.

As a result, two factions of the body seems to be in existence as information from Ibrahim Gusau has it that he denied is suspension, saying that it was a “waste of time and null and void.”

He is reportedly going on with a congress called in Awka, the capital town of Anambra State in South East Nigeria.

Sports Village Square gathered that as at Wednesday morning, 27 of Nigeria’s 36 states were represented at the congress.

Even though the Nigerian sports minister, Sunday Dare who has just clocked 100 days in office on Wednesday, is out of the country, attending the 2019 African Economic Conference on Jobs, Entrepreneurship and capacity building for African Youth in Sharm El-Sheik, Egypt, the Permanent Secretary of Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Adesola Olusade received Olumide George who paid a courtesy call to him in Abuja.
