It was not a pleasant Sunday for the two Nigerian teams in the CAF Confederation Cup as both lost their respective matches. After the home defeat of Enugu Rangers by Pyramid of Egypt, Enyimba also on Sunday night lost 0-2 to Hassania Union Sport Agadir (HUSA).
Karim El Berkaoui shot the home side ahead in the 14th minute before Malick Cisse doubled the lead five minutes later. With the loss, Enyimba are languishing at the bottom of Group D as the two other team in the group, Paradou Athletic Club of Algeria played a goalless draw away with Football Club San-Pédro of Cote d’Ivoire.
Enyimba will look forward to their next weekend home game with San-Pédro to bounce back into reckoning.
Just like Enyimba, Enugu Rangers are at the bottom of Group A following their home loss to Pyramids of Egypt. Rangers will play away in Egypt next Sunday against Al Masry at Port Said.
While the two Nigerian clubs in the Confederation Cup lost their matches, the two Egyptian sides in Group A won their respective away matches.
Al Masry beat Football Club Nouadhibou of Mauritania 3-2.
