Former Nigeria goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme has documented his challenges in a new book that will be unveiled soon. Ikeme titled the book, ‘Why Not Me’.
This was revealed in a tweet he posted on Monday evening. The former Nigeria goalkeeper wrote:
“I’m pleased to announce that my new book will be coming soon!!! Full details in the next few days”.
Ikeme who was first capped for Nigeria in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Tanzania in 2015 was two years later diagnosed with leukeamia, which in ordinary parlance means blood cancer.
His club, Wolverhampton Wanderers, which reported that its number one goalkeeper had returned some abnormal blood tests during his pre-season testing, released the sad information.
He made 10 appearances for Nigeria, the last being the 2018 World Cup qualifying match with Zambia in Ndola.
After undergoing successful chemotherapy treatment, Ikeme last July announced his retirement from football.
