Back in competition after their 3-1 victory over Zambia, Nigeria must continue in the same direction to join reach the semifinal of the ongoing U-23 Africa Cup of Nations.
After the setback against Cote d’Ivoire, victory over Zambia is not on its own enough. Nigeria can’t afford a mistake if they want to continue their title defense campaign.
And to avoid making any calculations, the Olympic Eagles must win against South Africa for a place in the semifinals.
Their opponents, South Africa (4 points) might be in a slightly better position, as a positive result (draw or win) takes them automatically to the semifinals.
But they should give their best against a progressing Nigeria side.
South Africa’s win over Cote d’Ivoire took them to top spot, a point more than Nigeria and the Ivoirians, but the boys if David Notoane will have to continue the good work if they are to reach the semis.
